World Bee Day 2025

On May 20, 2025, the world will celebrate World Bee Day for the eighth time. The day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2017 and set to coincide with the birthday of Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern beekeeping.

This year’s theme is: "Bee inspired by nature to nourish us all"

The slogan highlights the essential role bees play in maintaining the health and proper functioning of our planet’s ecosystems. Beyond producing honey and other bee products for consumption, the primary mission of bees — and other pollinators — is pollination.

Of all pollinating insects, bees are the most dominant pollinators of both wild and cultivated plants.

They visit over 90% of the world's most important crops, including fodder for livestock, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

The decline in bee populations could lead to the near-total loss of crops such as melons, pumpkins, almonds, and cashews. Yields of apples, strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries would become drastically reduced. Even coffee and chocolate could disappear, as their industries would become unprofitable. The cotton industry would also be at risk — cotton production directly depends on bees.

Each year, World Bee Day helps raise global awareness of the crucial role bees and other pollinators play in supporting both human health and planetary well-being, as well as the many threats they face today.

By caring for bees, we preserve life and the very foundation of our environment — for ourselves and for future generations.

The Bee Army team, recognizing the importance of its mission and its responsibility to raise awareness about the opportunities offered by comprehensive apiary monitoring, is always ready to engage, explain, and help find the best solutions for beekeepers—supporting the protection of their bee colonies and contributing to the greater goal of sustaining the global bee population.
